Igbinedion Secondary School offers far more than a first class education. Igbinedion High School students are presented with the unique opportunities to grow in confidence, to develop their own personalities in a secure, happy environment where they are nurtured to be the best - and above all to aim high and to expect great things. This institution is located in the heart of the ancient historical Benin Kingdom. Our sprawling buildings and grounds sit majestically and beautifully on 100 acres of land. Benin is itself one of the most renowned places in the history of African civilization. Against this background, our boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18 cultivate traditional human values. All our pupils, whether boarding or day students, have the opportunity to be involved in every aspects of daily school life. The faculty room comprises energetic and committed teachers who ensure that we offer a rich variety of activities, seven days a week, including prep every evening.

From the third year upward, career guidance forms an integral part of each student's development. A specialist guidance counsellor oversees a programme which enables students to make positive appraisals of their talents.
All pupils are required to abide by a code of behaviour similar to that normally expected within a family where emphasis is given to courtesy, politeness, respect for parents and,elders, co-operation, tolerance, kindness, honesty and integrity. Certain specific requirements are made clear in the school rules, but obviously such rules cannot cover all expectations relating to good behaviour.
The school is very conscious of its responsibility to act always, as a good parent should. The teaching, care, nursing domestic and administrative staff, offer a service to parents at all times and will always show concern for their children.
Every year the founder of Igbinedion Education Centre, His Excellency, Sir (Dr.) Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, CON (The Esama of Benin Kingdom) offers the Igbinedion Scholarship of Excellence to the best boy or girl who obtains first position in the Igbinedion School Common Entrance Examination. The scholarship is for six years with full boarding.
